Snuggle-Pedic Supreme Plush Bamboo Pillow

This luxurious and soft pillow from Snuggle-Pedic is specially designed to keep you comfortable throughout the night.

This ultra-soft pillow is made with pressure-relieving, gel-infused, shredded memory foam with a bamboo style. All of this was used for the sake of achieving ultimate comfort and assuring proper rest at night.

It is designed to return to its original shape like memory foam, but it is as tough and resistant, conforming more to your shape to properly support you. This is done by shredding the memory foam to fill the pillow even more without causing it to be quite as heavy. It also happens to be hypoallergenic, extremely low V.O.C., and bio-green.

Additionally, with the use of gel-infused foam, the pillow is assured to feel incredibly smooth and plush. This creates a pillow that provides proper orthopedic support for your neck, head, and upper spine.

The bamboo design also allows for extra breathability for a cool pillow throughout the night so that built-up heat doesn't ruin the comfort this pillow offers you. It's also machine washable, keeps dust mites away, and uses non-toxic materials.

What We Liked About Snuggle-Pedic Supreme Plush Bamboo Pillow

It's quite obvious that a lot of planning and thought went into the design of this pillow. By using carefully prepared materials, Snuggle-Pedic has created a fantastic pillow that will help keep anyone comfortable throughout the night.

It is hypoallergenic, breathable, and provides excellent support to your neck and spine without losing that support or shape throughout the night with your weight being applied to it. It's comfortable, easy to clean with a washing machine, and easy to fluff up in the dryer after a wash.

What We Didn't Like About Snuggle-Pedic Supreme Plush Bamboo Pillow

While this may be quite the luxurious pillow, it is expensive thanks to all the designing and materials that went into making it what it is. It is notably costly compared to other pillows of a similar standard, but it's almost understandable given the quality.

Another aspect is that, while efforts were made to ensure that it wouldn't be as heavy as other memory foam pillows, it remains quite hefty, especially the queen and king-sized pillows.

  • Breathable and hypoallergenic
  • Soft yet supportive memory foam
  • Easily cleaned and fluffed

  • Very expensive for a pillow
  • Becomes quite bulky as the size options increase

Core Products D-Core Cervical Support Pillow

This pillow offers another intuitive design, but it may not be quite as layered as the design that went into the Snuggle-Pedic Supreme. The D-Core Cervical Support Pillow approaches the issue of back and neck support differently.

The purpose and goal of this design are in the name of the pillow itself. The D-Core refers to the "D" shape that is pressed into the core of the pillow, which is designed to cradle your head in the center of the pillow for additional spinal posture support.

The cervical roll of the pillow additionally helps restore the curve of your spine over time. This design choice means a variety of elements, namely that this pillow is for back sleepers only and that it can leave you feeling quite sore and achy the first few nights as your posture and spine become acclimated to the new adjustments. However, all of this ends up serving to correct your posture and strengthen your neck.

The pillow is made to be extra firm to assist in this correction, and it remains comfortable for a long time without losing its shape. It is made with a hypoallergenic filling that is 100% virgin polyester fiber. In comparison, the cover is a blend of 50% polyester and 50% cotton, so this pillow is breathable for those warmer nights.

Keep in mind that it is not safe to wash in a machine and should be hand-washed and dried through pressing with your hands to get the water out. It cannot be hung out to dry due to the filling possibly settling incorrectly, so be sure to follow the specific washing and drying instructions.

What We Liked About Core Products D-Core Cervical Support Pillow

This pillow was made with a singular goal in mind, and it managed to achieve that goal with flying colors. The shaped compression in the center and the cervical support all work together to create the perfect device for correcting and maintaining your neck posture both during and after sleep.

It also works as a comfortable pillow once you get used to it and once the initial pains have passed. We'd recommend that you rotate between pillows as you adjust, as the pain can build up quite severely should you stick to this pillow every night.

What We Didn't Like About Core Products D-Core Cervical Support Pillow

The first aspect we weren't a fan of was the specific washing instructions. While you obviously can't help how the pillow needs to be cleaned, it is still an annoyance to hand-wash and hand-dry the pillow every time it's dirty. Another aspect that some may not like is just how firm the pillow is, which again, is understandable because it is designed to be firm for support.

However, this isn't exactly a pillow that you want to come home to after a long day of running errands or working. It will take some time to get used to the general shape and firmness before the actual comfort sets in. It's also only suited for back sleepers, as only the sides are suitable for side sleepers. However, this can be annoying for those who toss and turn in their sleep because you'll likely fall into the groove mid-sleep.

  • D-Core and cervical neck posture correction and support
  • Extra-firm for additional support
  • Cotton and polyester materials make for a breathable and hypoallergenic product

  • Can be too firm for general comfort
  • Unsuitable for side and stomach sleepers

Tempur-Pedic Symphony Pillow

This intuitively designed pillow is designed for more versatile use than the previous option, the D-Core Cervical Pillow. This is an alternative that caters to all types of sleepers.

Less specialized than the last pillow, the Tempur-Pedic Symphony uses a dual-sided design to blend two pillow designs that cater towards two generalized groups of sleepers: back sleepers and side or stomach sleepers. The back sleeper side features a gently arched dip in the center of the pillow that cradles your head while sleeping on your back.

However, using this side if you are a side or stomach sleeper can be uncomfortable, as you'll get a face full of pillow. Thankfully, the other side is flatter and in line with traditional designs that leave you breathing freely. This is all in support of what Tempur-Pedic calls "Personalized Comfort".

You can use a side that is tailored explicitly towards your preferred sleeping position, and the pillow is made with memory foam, which will gradually adapt to your shape and size. Over time, your pillow will eventually grow to become more and more comfortable. Overall, it's a durable, comfortable, supportive pillow that caters to all kinds of sleeping positions.

What We Liked About Tempur-Pedic Symphony Pillow

To see a pillow with two sides is a great thing, as that factor makes this perhaps the most versatile pillow on this list. It has a comfortable side that is catered towards back sleepers and a more traditional side for side and stomach sleepers.

One would expect the sides to eventually wear down over time, but the memory foam prevents that from happening. Any wearing down will only cause the pillow to adopt an even more unique shape for your head and neck as you sleep on it more and more.

What We Didn't Like About Tempur-Pedic Symphony Pillow

There are some unavoidable complaints, however. This is the second iteration of this pillow design, which in itself isn't bad, but it also isn't as good as the past variant. This one is lighter and uses a different stuffing that is of lower quality and is more prone to spreading and clumping, causing it to become lumpy when not fluffed regularly.

Additionally, the pillow's support can begin to become nonexistent over time thanks to the lower quality filling, which can cause problems for your neck. While this would typically not be a problem for your run-of-the-mill pillow, you can't afford to make a bad purchase with this product, as it is costly for the quality you get.

It is around the same price as the Snuggle-Pedic Supreme but with barely half the quality. If you had to make a choice, we'd recommend choosing something else, as this pillow doesn't offer great value for your money.

  • Versatile dual-sided design
  • Memory foam filling
  • Firm filling

  • Requires regular maintenance to keep up to acceptable standards
  • Poor value for money due to low-quality materials

JUVEA Natural Talalay Latex Pillow

This larger pillow is designed to bring an excellent amount of comfort to your home while using only materials found in nature. There are no synthetic materials used in the making of this pillow.

Coming in four different sizes, the Juvea Talalay Latex Pillow is a more traditionally designed pillow that uses a smart selection of 100% natural materials to create an eco-friendly option. The filling is made entirely of cotton, so the pillow is relatively lightweight and breathable. Cotton also has heat-retaining properties, so it may get a bit uncomfortable on warmer nights, but the old turn-over method can help with that.

The latex is made with renewable, plant-based ingredients, keeping in line with the all-natural make of the pillow. This makes the pillow additionally breathable and comfortable. Also, the pillow is vegan and cruelty-free, so you'll not have to worry about its manufacturing whatsoever.

In terms of the quality of sleep it can afford, you can enjoy one of two main pillow designs - low profile and high profile. These essentially determine the firmness and height that the pillow retains once you rest your head on it, with low profile pillows being set lower for medium to firm support and high profile pillows offering firmer support.

In other words, a low profile is better for those who enjoy softer pillows, while high profile pillows are better for those who want a firmer experience that keeps their head aloft. The latex cover also provides a uniquely buoyant and weightless feel to your head, as it makes the pillow feel almost springy in its responsiveness to pressure being applied.

What We Liked About JUVEA Natural Talalay Latex Pillow

This is in the run for our favorite pillow of the lot, as it offers everything you'd look for and need in a pillow. It's comfortable, springy, and firm but soft. It is plush, as some would say, and it is even vegan and cruelty-free, with only natural materials used.

The cotton may be a bit warm during warmer nights, but it is designed to be a breathable pillow that will regulate heat and stay cooler than most. Additionally, it's hypoallergenic and comes in four sizes and varieties, from low profile to high profile and in both king and queen sizes.

This means you can get one that is perfect for your bed and perfect for the height you need for your head. The low profile offers a softer experience for back and stomach sleepers, and the high profile is better for side sleepers. Overall, this is a great pillow to own.

What We Didn't Like About JUVEA Natural Talalay Latex Pillow

Unfortunately, the use of all-natural materials has a significant impact on the pricing. This pillow is the most expensive of the lot, completely blowing the Tempur-Pedic and Snuggle-Pedic out of the water in terms of cost. However, if you are willing to invest around $100 or more into a pillow, then this is probably the pillow to get.

Additionally, this pillow is only for those who enjoy medium firmness, so you wouldn't want to buy this if you prefer soft pillows.

  • Very comfortable and breathable
  • Vegan, cruelty-free, and all-natural
  • Different degrees of springiness and firmness available

  • Incredibly expensive
  • No soft options

Copper Fit Angel Ultimate Memory Foam Pillow

Our final entry for this review has a unique design that is perfect for side and back sleepers.

Uniquely designed, the Copper Fit Angel Ultimate Pillow has two "layers" of pillow resting upon each other. It keeps this kind of squashed "I" shape thanks to the adaptive memory foam. This creates a sort of terraced appearance, where your head rests on the top layer of this small tower of a pillow and your arm rests in the groove between the layers.

The pillow is shaped to conform to the body and provide a comfortable contour that corrects posture for the neck and spine while reducing pressure on the rest of the body. It will work to keep your head up, leading to a restful night's sleep.

The pillow itself is incredibly soft yet springy, thanks to the memory foam, and it has a soft, copper-infused pillowcase that is machine-safe and reduces odor and bacteria.

What We Liked About Copper Fit Angel Ultimate Memory Foam Pillow

This is a unique and exciting design with multiple layers that provide excellent head and neck support. It also creates a nice groove for your arm to rest in. The memory foam is soft yet firm and will help it retain its unique shape and contours to keep its comfortability for much longer.

Surprisingly for these more unique pillows, the price isn't too high and is much more affordable than the Snuggle-Pedic and Tempur-Pedic.

What We Didn't Like About Copper Fit Angel Ultimate Memory Foam Pillow

Much like most memory foam pillows, this pillow can be quite firm, perhaps too firm for some. Additionally, the pillow is also advertised as a king-sized pillow, but it's actually far smaller, and the manufacturer has a poor history with customer support.

  • Unique and interesting design with two layers
  • Firm memory foam with contours for comfort
  • Great value for money

  • Very firm - too firm for some
  • Quite small

Buyer's Guide: What to Look for When Buying a Pillow for Back Sleepers?

When you're looking for a good pillow, it's a good idea to know a bit of the terminology and be aware of some of the features you should be looking for. Here is a quick buyer's guide as to what to look for in a good pillow.

The loft of a pillow refers to its height while resting flat on your bed. Low loft pillows will naturally be considered thin, while high loft pillows will be taller and thicker. An excellent example of a loft we've covered in this review would be the Juvea Talalay Latex Pillow, which offers different lofts or "profiles".

Keep in mind that there are no definitive measurements for loft. It's based more on general sizes. A pillow's loft is also subject to change based on the materials used.

When looking for a pillow, the first and foremost feature you should be looking out for is its ability to support your neck. The support a pillow provides can be directly linked to spine and neck problems and pain, with poor support causing issues like bad posture and aches.

A good pillow will keep your head and neck posture correct and will prevent aches and pains in your back. Look for contoured memory foam, shaped pillows with contours and dips, and orthopedic designs.

Similar to the support of a pillow, firmness is a factor that can affect the health of your neck and spine. Firmness is directly linked to the support a pillow can provide you and generally describes how much the pillow gives under the pressure of weight and how much it will conform to the shape of your head and neck.

Softer pillows may appear fluffy and large, but they will give and wrap around your head. Firmer pillows keep their general shape and do not give very much under weight or pressure.

Generally, side sleepers prefer a more medium firmness - in between soft and firm - so that they can get ample support for their heads while retaining enough softness to keep their neck aligned with their spine.

Stomach sleepers should get as flat a pillow as possible so that their heads remain aligned without strain, and a back sleeper should avoid softer pillows to prevent the same issue while being flipped over.

The shape of a pillow is something that is often determined by the above three characteristics. Of course, the loft will determine how tall or short the pillow will be, and the firmness will determine the general shape, with firmer pillows being more rigid and less firm pillows being more floppy.

There is often minimal variance in the shape of pillows unless the design specifically calls for contours and unique shapes that aid in support. Otherwise, traditional rectangular shapes do fine.

Pressure Relief

The traditional pillow is often flat, but many of the fancier ones have a contoured shape that is designed to elevate the head and keep it at specific angles to relieve pressure off the neck and spine. These pillows significantly increase your comfort and rest from the night before, as they will remove the pressure by supporting your head in place of your neck, letting your spine and neck relax after a long day.

In conclusion, we'll give you some passing recommendations. While it may be exorbitantly expensive, the Juvea Talalay Latex Pillow is a definitive best due to all of the above factors.

For a cheaper option, the Copper Fit Angel Ultimate Pillow is a great alternative. For those who dislike memory foam, you could always go for the Core Products D-Core Cervical Pillow for similar back and neck support.
